our Story
a warm and friendly bar, restaurant and inn located in the quaint village of brooke, just 8 miles from Norwich city centre.
The Kings Head was originally a cottage with land (the two fields adjoining) owned by William Stannard. It stood beside the drovers' road which ran between Bungay and The Pineapple public house in Trowse, and consisted of 'one barn, one stable, a backhouse, yards, gardens and arable land'.
In 1640, William sold the cottage to the lord of Brooke manor, where it was converted into a coaching inn to serve the increasing volume of traffic along the highway in which the building still stands.
Today, The Kings Head Inn has been tastefully and sympathetically modernised to offer two bars, fully stocked with a wide range of local and international beverages and a gastro restaurant serving up local, seasonal produce.
The Kings Head Inn also offers a large function room comfortable accommodation in the form of five luxury rooms, each featuring a large en-suite bathroom and comfortable amenities.
